Speedy Bandwidth Calculation

The terms of bits and bytes seems very simple but apparently very confusing. Many people are protesting because the brochure said telkom speedy capable of 1 Mbps download speed was only able to reach speeds around 80 KB / Sec. What happens is it true Telkom massive fraud? Why the difference so far?

This problem occurs because the use of bits and bytes are confusing even to the activists even computers. Units used to indicate the speed of a network, usually digunakakan unit "bits". Megabit = 1000000bit so 1Mbps = 1000000bit/second.
Problems occur when the program guide such as download dialogue box in windows and most other programs use byte units. So that user confusion, the abbreviation for bits and bytes, then only distinguished by uppercase lowercase dah. For example, 1Kbps (with the letter "b" small) means 1kilobit/second while 1KBps (with capital letters) means 1Kilobyte/second. The unit itself is a unit of bytes to indicate 8 bits, or 1 byte = 8 bits.
Thus, the download speed 1 Mbps has the same meaning with a 1000 Kbps / 8 = 125. within a very ideal situation once before users will get download speeds of 125 KB / Sec and speed 80 KB / Sec must have been very good and acceptable.
